iEphemeris Pro is an astronomy program for iPhone.

The target for the professional version is the astronomer who want to have in your pocket that main astronomical information, but even photographers could find iEphemeris Pro useful for their activity.

There are three pages;
- the main one gives you information such as: Julian Date, Sidereal Time, Delta-T, Sunrise, Transit and Sunset;
- the second page gives you all information you need on the Moon; actual phase, right ascension and declination, lunation, next phases, horizontal coordinates, moonrise, moonset, and more;
- the last page gives you the main information on the Sun; right ascension and declination, day length, Sun maximum altitude, Equation of Time, Nutation, and more.

Version 5.5 introduces iEphemeris Widget.
The widget allows you to have a quick look at moon phase and current coordinates (location, latitude, longitude and altitude).
Widget always works in GPS mode; it takes in account main app preferences just for hemisphere (north, south), metric (standard, anglo-american) and preferred language (by default it uses device language).

The application can be customized by choosing:
- if you wish to use iPhone GPS or set your own location;
- the hemisphere where you are living;
- between Metric and Anglo-American unit mesure system;
- if you want information in real time, or if you wish to set your own time and date;
- to choose your location among the 8.000 cities stored in the built-in database, or to add your own by setting latitude, longitude, elevation and time offset;
- to choose any of all supported languages without change your device settings; changes concern not only the application language, but even the regional settings used by the program (such as dates).

A user guide is available in the app by clicking on (?) button.

The application is localized in all main languages; Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Turkish.

If you find a bug, if you wish iEphemeris translated in your own language, just send me an e-mail to the following address: [email protected]

As all users know, support is immediate and granted.

Pros and cons of iEphemeris Pro app for iPhone and iPad

iEphemeris Pro app good for

First class application ! Does exactly what it claims - in three beautifully presented screens. The language options are a real bonus and the ability to apply local GPS locations (iPhone 3G only) is really welcome. Top marks for execution, information, design and value for money...
For anyone interested in facts and information on the sun and moon and their various idiosyncrasies, this program is a must. Its well laid out in three information packed screens that provide a wealth of data. If I could mention only one omission that would be the various sunsets and rises; astronomical. Nautical and civil, this is great information for photographers (the Golden Hour!). Well worth the price.
Well done and worth the price. Really like that I can check sidereal time with this app! Would like to see the ability to be able to quickly change the dates so as to get a peek into the data pertinent for any day that I wish to check out. Helps in planning for astronomical observation sessions.
This is a cool and informative little piece of software. I like the realtime stats and polished interface. There are just a few things that Id like to see resolved. -Sunrise/sunset times are in UTC, even if I set to local time in the preferences. -Speaking of preferences, you need to have a back button for each preference. If I go into, say, City, but I dont want to change anything, I have to click the text box, bring up the keyboard, and hit return to get back. Just a minor thing, but it takes away from the polished feel. -Description says location services are a feature, but version 1.2 isnt even out yet. -When I type a city, like Rochester, how do I know if I have the correct Rochester? There should really be a list of search results that come up, with countries and states attached. Also, itd be nice to have elevation data be set automatically when you pick a city. I have no idea how many feet above sea level I am at a given time. That is what the measurement is in, right? There are no units attached to that preference. Yeah, looks like a few flaws, but theres really nothing thats that big a deal. Well worth my two bucks.
Its a very informative app but the time for sun rise and sun set is backwards. Its like they put the rite times with the wrong headings.
I use the sunrise sunset times often for hunting and adjusting hiking schedules. Its great to know the moon phases as well for night outings.

Some bad moments

I have a brand new iPod Touch running OS4.2. Id had the program for about 10 minutes, when I wanted to find out how to view the data for the next day, rather than for the current time. This app doesnt come with tutorials. I pressed the "i" button in the lower right. The button glowed white -- and then the entire screen went white, without any controls to press whatsoever. Despite numerous re-boots, re-synchs, and jabs at my touhscreen, the program continued to open to this white page of death. I wrote to Support -- and waited for a reply nearly 72 hours before writing this review. A waste.
This application gives the astronomical time in several different formats, the sun and moon position, and the time of sunrise and sunset. The user must enter their latitude and longitude manually, as no use is made of the iPhones location finding capability. No information is provided about the planets. Unfortunately Version 1.0 suffers from several significant bugs: 1) The letters for East and West longitude are not localized properly; in the English language version, O is used for West longitude instead of W. 2) The sidereal time is incorrect, and should be shown in 24-hour format regardless of the locale. 3) The sunset time should be shown in PM format in those locales that use a 12-hour clock. 4) On the Suns page, the quantity "axial tilt" should be called "Earths axial tilt", and should be given in degrees instead of radians. 5) The Suns ecliptic longitude should be given in degrees instead of radians. 6) The last part of the longitude for my location (approximately 118 degrees west) is cut off, so that the " W part is missing. This application shows great potential, but needs more work. Wait until Version 1.1, when hopefully most of the bugs will be fixed.
I hqave been patiently using this app from its earliest versions but it suffers from three major problems: 1 the author keeps breaking working features when he adds "new" features. 2 Poorly coded UI leads to illogical behavior in the prefs. 3 the authors Italian to English translations leave much to be desired. There are much better ephemeris apps out there. Try them instead!
About mid-November they stopped updating the app and the moon phases dont change now. Dont waste your money. They will cheat you out of $2.
Today I noticed the times for moonrise/set were off by an hour. Two other apps gave the correct time. This is not acceptable. I am deleting this app. Version 1.7: the moonrise/set times are wrong. Now the App Store apparently wants more money just to upgrade to ver 1.9? I am deleting this app. Sun n Moon and MoonPhase give correct moonrise/set which I need for moonlight photography.
Just installed. Pressed "i" icon at bottom right of screen and got a blank screen. Looks like my flashlight screen. No icons to get it to return to home page. Swiping or touching screen does nothing. ????
